Until the 19th century, St Wendreda was a chapel-of-ease of Doddington. Mainly 14th and 16th century, it stands attractively in a large churchyard and has a fine steeple. The church has a stunning double hammerbeam roof with 120 carved angels. It is of international importance as exemplifying later medieval wood craftsmanship and was recently described as the finest English angel roof. Sir John Betjeman said that St Wendreda was worth cycling 40 miles in a head wind to see.
